About The Rev. Varner

The Rev. Joshua Varner grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and is a "cradle" Episcopalian. He attended The University of the South (Sewanee), and graduated with his B.A. in May 1997. He also holds an M.T.S degree from Harvard Divinity School, and an M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS). Upon graduation from VTS, Joshua returned to North Carolina and began work as the Assistant to the Rector at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Durham. After two and a half years there, he was called to Holy Trinity as Assistant to the Rector and began his work here in March 2004. At Holy Trinity, Joshua serves as clergy liaison to children's, youth, and young adult ministries, in addition to regular liturgical and pastoral duties. He also serves on the Commission on Ministry for the Diocese of North Carolina. He and his wife Elizabeth have two children, Benjamin and Laura.
