Special Events for Families

Winter/Spring 2011 Events

Souper Bowl Fundraiser: Each January, the youth groups sell vegetable soup, chili, and con queso dip with chips to raise money for Glory Ridge. Orders are available for pick-up after services on Super Bowl Sunday, just in time for the big game. Look for order forms in early January. Orders available for pick-up on Sunday, February 6 after all services.

Family Game Night: Back by popular demand, this event combines one of the kitchen ministry’s fabulous family meals with fun and games for all ages. A vast array of board games, a possible Bingo showdown, and maybe some prizes await! Dinner is $7 per person with a family cap of $25. Wednesday, February 9 from 5–7 p.m. in the Haywood Duke Room.

EYC Lock-In: Join us for fun, games and surprises – all night long! Watch movies, hang out with your friends – you never know what might be in store. Jr. and Sr. EYC will spend the night; Tweens will have a late night. February 11–12 from 8 p.m.–8 a.m.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Mardi Gras Carnival, and Burying of the Alleluias: Hosted by Holy Trinity’s youth, this dinner is a fundraiser for the Glory Ridge mission trip. Pancakes, sausage, and applesauce will be served in the Haywood Duke Room for $7 per person with a $25 family cap. Beginning at 6 p.m., the Mardi Gras carnival will kick off in the Youth Ministry Center, including a procession outside to bury our “alleluias” for the season of Lent at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8 from 5–7 p.m. in the Haywood Duke Room and Youth Ministry Center.

Spring Retreats for Jr. and Sr. EYC: The youth groups will have a Vision Quest retreat this spring, April 29–May 1. This is a weekend of community building and fellowship with friends and adult leaders, as well as solo reflection. The Vision Quest provides an opportunity to spend significant time alone, as well as time in community, discerning God’s dream for our lives. We’ll head to Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia for this event. More information about the retreat will be available later in the spring. April 29–May 1, 2011.

May Day Walk: Bring your family and friends to walk, skip or perhaps even dance the labyrinth’s winding path. At 5:30 p.m. there will be an introduction for those new to the labyrinth followed by a time of blessing in the center of the labyrinth. Feel free to join the brief presentation or simply come and walk at your convenience. Sunday, May 1 from 5:30–7 p.m.

Celebration of Family Ministries: In this festive service, children and youth lead the congregation in worship and music. Graduating high school seniors will present the sermon at all three services. There will be no Children’s Chapel that day. Sunday, May 8 at the 9 a.m. service.

Honoring of Graduating Seniors: We encourage all graduating seniors to attend this special service along with their families. The Price Scholarship will be awarded at this service. Sunday, May 15 at the 9 a.m. service.

Volunteer Appreciation: So many volunteers make it possible for Christian formation to take place each Sunday and Wednesday. Join us in thanking them for their commitment to the young members of our parish family. Sunday, May 15, 2011.
