Dinner, fellowship and a fabulous program More
Every young person in grades 5-12 who attends Holy Trinity is welcome to join our youth community. Tweens includes 5th and 6th-graders. Jr. EYC includes 7th and 8th-graders, and Sr. EYC includes 9th–12th-graders.
The goal of the youth program is to incorporate teens into a sacred community of radical acceptance, allowing them the space to figure out who they are and what gifts they have to offer, and giving them a deeper connection to the presence of God so that they may become co-creators with God in our world.
Tweens in 5th and 6th grade use the Godly Play curriculum, a method of Christian education and spiritual direction designed to help children become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives through the use of parables, sacred stories, silence and liturgical action. Seventh through 12th-graders will be walking through the sacred stories of our faith, using both the Old and New Testaments. Tweens, Jr. and Sr. EYC meet on Sunday evenings from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for dinner, fellowship and fun.
Youth groups also participate in occasional retreats, day and overnight trips. Check out the Special Events for Families page for details!

Confirmation is a sacramental rite that connects us back to our baptism. At baptism, our parents and godparents promise to raise their child in the life of the church. At confirmation, the young person takes on that responsibility for him/herself as a young adult in the church. Confirmation is open to 9th-graders and above. Preparation involves attending several evening classes and a Saturday retreat.
Confirmation at Holy Trinity traditionally is for high school youth. Preparation involves attending two Wednesday gatherings on March 3 and April 21, 2010 from 6:45–8 p.m. in the Youth Ministry Center, as well as a retreat March 5–7 at The Summit. Confirmation will take place with the bishop’s visit on Sunday, June 13. Contact Anne-Barton Carter, 272-6149 ext. 221 or .
We mark the rite of passage from childhood to adulthood during the Rite 13 Liturgy, in which we celebrate the fact that our 13-year-olds are becoming men and women and that they have special creative gifts given to them by God. If your teen is 13 years old by August 30, 2010, he or she is welcome to participate in the liturgy.
Teens must attend a preparation meeting, along with at least one parent, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 6:45–8 p.m. in the Youth Ministry Center. The Rite 13 Liturgy will take place on Sunday, February 28 at the 9 a.m. service. Contact Anne-Barton Carter, 272-6149 ext. 221 or .
All youth are welcome to participate in the leadership of worship at Holy Trinity. They can serve as acolytes, choir members, chalicists, lay readers, and/or music leaders. Contact Joshua Varner at 272-6149 ext. 232 or .

S. O. Fun Week: This alternative Spring Break is a week of outreach projects and fellowship for 5th and 6th-graders. Tweens serve in various ways in the community each morning and enjoy a fun activity together in the afternoon. S. O. Fun Week will be March 29–April 1, 2010.
7th–9th Grade Outreach Trip: Current 7th–9th graders are invited to join a special outreach trip to the Koinonia Community near Americas, Georgia, June 23–27, 2010.
Glory Ridge: Glory Ridge is the name of the camp in Madison County, North Carolina, where Holy Trinity sends a group of youth and adults each summer to rehabilitate the homes of the poor and elderly. Rising 9th-graders through graduating high school seniors are eligible to attend. We welcome adults who have construction skills (or a willingness to learn) and are interested in working with teens to serve as leaders for the trip. The 2010 Glory Ridge trip will be July 25–31.
