The Children and Young Families Ministry Committee meets for one hour per month from September through April to discuss the curriculum for infants through fifth-graders, staffing of classrooms, Vacation Bible School, and other matters. The committee also plans special events geared especially for families with elementary-age children.
Children's Chapel Leaders share their love for children and worship by helping with the Sunday morning Chapel service for ages four through seven. This is a rewarding way to share the stories of our faith with little ones.
Children's Chapel Musicians make a joyful noise with some uninhibited young voices by providing piano playing (or another musical instrument) for our Children's Chapel service.
Christmas Program Assistants donate their talents in designing and making costumes and props, as well as in other aspects of preparing our endearing and lively annual children's Christmas pageant.
Godly Play is a Montessori-based approach to working with children. Its aim is to support, challenge, nourish and guide children's spiritual quest. Sacred stories, our shared history, and the liturgical workings of the church are all introduced in a quiet and respectful atmosphere. This curriculum is used with 3-year-olds through 4th-graders on Sunday mornings.
S. O. (Summer Outreach) Fun offers opportunities for children in rising 5th–9th grades to have fun together and make a difference in our community.
Sunday School Gatekeepers greet the class and then assist the teacher with snacks and activities. You can make a difference in the lives of our little ones, even if you aren't a teacher!
Sunday School Storytellers have a passion for the spiritual formation of our young people, three-year-olds through fifth grade. An excellent curriculum and training are provided, but the main requirements are a love of children and a willingness to share your own faith. This is an excellent way to learn more about the Bible and our Episcopal tradition by teaching others.
Vacation Bible School for children is a major annual event, offered for one week in the summer for children ages 4 to rising 4th-graders. Bible School themes may vary from year to year, but the primary focus is to teach important lessons from the Bible through activities, crafts, storytelling, music, movement and games. Many volunteers of all ages are welcomed and needed throughout the week for various duties.
