Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care Volunteer Opportunities

Altar Flower Arrangers collect the altar flowers following each 11:15 a.m. Sunday service and make lovely arrangements to be delivered to parishioners who are ill or needing encouragement.

Altar Flower Deliverers pick up arrangements made from the altar flowers between 12:45–1 p.m. each Sunday afternoon and deliver to parishioners.

Christmas Poinsettias are a special treat early in Advent for parishioners unable to participate in the many events and activities at church during the Advent and Christmas Seasons. Volunteers to deliver these lovely flowers are needed.

Circle of Friends are parishioners who enjoy delivering meals to people in our church family and extended family who are ill, just home from the hospital, have had a death in the family or are experiencing a difficult situation.

Compassionate Cooks are church members who enjoy cooking a variety of food in their home to be available to parishioners who are ill, just home from the hospital, have had a death in the family or are experiencing a difficult situation.

Condolence Note Writers are parishioners who enjoy writing and volunteer to write a note to bereaved members who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Funeral Choir members are all volunteer parishioners who enjoy singing but are usually not members of the adult or celebration choirs.

Funeral Reception Hostesses assist at receptions following funerals at Holy Trinity church by helping set up refreshments, welcoming and directing guests to the receiving area, and generally attending to the needs of the bereaved family during the reception.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry is composed of church members committed to praying for the specific needs of others, whether public or private, and honoring the confidence and privacy of individuals and families. Based on a belief in the importance and power of prayer, this ministry views intercessory prayer as a profound expression of love. There is an orientation for this ministry.

Knit One Pray Too members enjoy knitting prayer shawls and a variety of lovely creations. They meet at church the first Monday of every month at 2 p.m. in Smyth Library. Anyone wanting to learn to knit as well as experienced knitters are welcome.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs) share the Eucharist with people who are ill, whether at home or in the hospital, as well as others who are unable to attend church services for whatever reason. Licensed by the Bishop, LEVs have a deep spiritual commitment and ability to listen sensitively and reflectively to those whom they visit. There is an orientation for this ministry.

A Memorial Service in memory and honor of loved ones who have died during the year is held annually, usually the second Sunday of December. Crucifer and ushers are needed for this service.

MOMS (Mothers Offering Mothers Support) is a ministry of concern and support for young families with a focus on new mothers. Volunteers deliver meals to the family and offer encouragement.

Recognition and Appreciation opportunities are an intentional effort to express thanksgiving for the many volunteers and staff at Holy Trinity who minister to others. There is an annual service and reception each spring to honor all those involved in lay ministry at Holy Trinity. Volunteers to assist in planning and carrying out this reception are needed.

Transportation volunteers assist in bringing parishioners to church who are unable to drive or do not have access to a ride.

Visitors are members who enjoy visiting parishioners living alone or unable to get out often. These visitors listen attentively in conversation with the person they are visiting as well as share about things that might be of interest about Holy Trinity events and activities.

Worship Service DVDs are made of almost every Sunday service. Volunteers to assist in the taping on Sundays are needed.

Your Book My Voice is for anyone who enjoys reading out loud to someone whose eyesight or health is limited to the point they are unable to read for themselves.
