Pastoral Care
Circle of Friends from Holy Trinity assesses parishioners’ needs following a crisis situation or death in the immediate family. The Friends are led by co-captains each quarter and receive direction from Pastoral Care Assistant Ann Dortch and the clergy. The captains and their committees deliver a meal to the home and/or serve as greeters in the reception rooms following a funeral.

Companions of Holy Trinity provide spiritual companionship to members of the congregation who are chronically ill or who are experiencing times of personal trauma or crisis. Special training is offered for this ministry.

Flower Deliverers pick up altar flowers after the 11:15 a.m. service on Sundays and deliver them to homebound parishioners as assigned by the Pastoral Care Assistant.

Funeral Choir members fill in at funerals for members of the adult choir who are unavailable during the week. For persons who like to sing and have time available during the day, this is an excellent opportunity to minister to bereaved families. Funeral Choir members receive a call whenever their help is needed. They come 15 minutes prior to the funeral, vest in the choir vesting room, and gather to learn which hymns will be sung in the service.

Funeral Facilitators assist families who are having receptions following funerals at Holy Trinity. Volunteers help set up refreshments, welcome and direct the guests attending the reception in the designated receiving area and generally attend to the needs of the bereaved family and their guests during the reception.

Holy Trinity Health Cabinet is composed of parishioners who are health professionals and other persons interested in lifting up an image of wellness that includes body, mind, and spirit. Seminars on that theme are offered and the need for health ministries is continually evaluated. The Health Cabinet also supports and assists the parish nurse.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry is the least visible of the various ministries at Holy Trinity. Its members are committed to praying for the specific needs of others and must honor the confidence and privacy of individuals and families. Based on the belief in the efficacy of prayer, this ministry views intercessory prayer as a profound expression of love.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs) take the Eucharist to the sick, homebound, and others who are unable to get to church. Licensed by the Bishop, LEVs must be spiritually mature and able to listen in a sensitive and reflective manner. Special training is provided for this ministry.

Memorial Service is an annual service held in early December to honor the memory of loved ones who have died in the past 12 months. Commission members serve as ushers and assist as needed in preparation for the service. Parishioners who have lost loved ones during the past year are mailed invitations to the service.

MOMS (Mothers Offering Mothers Support) is a ministry of concern and support for young families, with a special focus on new mothers.  We deliver meals when babies are born or adopted. To celebrate a baby's arrival with the congregation, we also place a rose on the credence table in the church. In times of stress, MOMS can help out by coordinating emergency baby-sitting and transportation. This ministry grew out of St. Clare's ECW chapter but is open to any woman in the church who wishes to join.

Note Writers write condolence notes to bereaved parishioners on behalf of Holy Trinity and the Pastoral Care Commission.

Parish Nurse Our parish nurse is a licensed RN employed by Holy Trinity through the Congregational Nursing Program at Moses Cone Hospital. She visits in hospitals and homes; offers wellness opportunities to staff, congregation and Holy Trinity Day School; provides educational and health screening events; and talks with parishioners over the phone and in person as a resource for health information of all kinds. She organizes nurses and other health professionals within the parish to assist with these events. She also serves as a member of the Health Cabinet and as a resource to the Companions program and the Pastoral Care Commission.

Service Recognition is an ongoing effort to thank parishioners, clergy and staff for their participation in the ministries of Holy Trinity. This is done through articles in the Parish Post, listing the names of participants in publications, and recognizing the various ministries during designated church services. This serves to educate parishioners on who does what at Holy Trinity, as well as to encourage participation from those not already involved.

Transportation Ministry seeks to identify and to provide transportation for parishioners in need of transportation to church services or functions. The ministry is open to anyone who can drive.
