Fellowship and Special Events

Episcopal Church Women (ECW) sponsors luncheons for the entire parish twice each year and monthly Evenings for Women featuring insightful and talented speakers. The highlight of the ECW year is its annual fundraiser, which provides funding for the ECW’s outreach into agencies and ministries that support the women and children of Guilford County. The ECW Board is also active in supporting international mission work, collecting the United Thank Offering, and helping to fund the Church Periodical Club.

Evenings for Women invite all women of the parish to enjoy fellowship, a meal, and a speaker together on the third Monday of each month. You do not need to be a member of an ECW chapter to attend. Take an evening and get away from the stresses of life with us!

Foyer Groups of eight to twelve people meet five or six times throughout the program year for supper in members’ homes. This is an opportunity for socializing, sharing and dining with a few fellow members of our church community in one another’s homes. The meals are great and the fellowship is wonderful! We especially need people who are willing to host the first group supper. New groups form each fall.

Friendship Day has been providing for the enrichment of our older citizens for 26 years. The program brings together a non-denominational group of 75 members who meet at First Presbyterian Church for speakers, choirs and piano recitals, travel experiences, and meditations. (Our own John Akers leads the meditations twice each month and has also served on the Friendship Day Board for nearly 16 years.) Friendship Day meets every Thursday from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Come at 9:30 a.m. if you are interested in participating in gentle exercise led by a professional; you will enjoy it and feel renewed at the same time. Lunch is available for a modest fee. Holy Trinity supports Friendship Day with money and by representation on the Board of Directors.

The Great Medieval Epiphany Feast is held on the first Sunday of Epiphany and features a traditional Medieval banquet and festive entertainment. Volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen, to help set up, and to clean up.

Holy Trinity Men’s Club is open to all men of the parish and meets on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. for dinner, fellowship, and an inspiring speaker. Past speakers have included John Swofford, Commissioner of the ACC, and George Holmes, a World War II vet and Holy Trinity parishioner who survived the D-Day invasion. Recreational and service opportunities for the men of the parish are also offered through the Men’s Club.

Joyful Noise Jazz Club meets the first Thursday of every month (except in July) to enjoy together the big band music and that of the earlier jazz musicians. The well-stocked collections of several members provide the programs, running from about 7:30–8:45 p.m. in Roe Library.

San Pasquale Kitchen Ministry provides food and fellowship for all parish functions, as well as for some outside ministries. The kitchen ministry has a need for people willing to work for various functions. No cooking experience is needed, as the kitchen managers always provide guidance.

Summer Sunday Breakfasts furnish an occasion for the parish family to come together for food and fellowship on summer Sunday mornings. This is a wonderful ministry for people who enjoy setting tables, preparing foods, cooking with others, and chatting in the kitchen. You choose the Sundays in June, July, and August to serve.

TWIGS (Those With Infinitely Greater Sense) is an active and thriving ministry with leadership coming from many parishioners – the older, the younger, and the young-at-heart. The TWIGS meet weekly during the program year at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays in Roe Library. They study the lessons for the coming Sunday and share the concerns of their lives. In the fall and spring a "road trip" is planned, and anyone who would like to come is invited to join in a visit to some (relatively) nearby point of interest. Above all, TWIGS seeks to realize and affirm the important ministries that older adults contribute to our parish community. TWIGS is open to all those 60 years of age and "moving forward."
