Choirs

Holy Trinity offers a variety of opportunities for all ages to grow in musicianship and to exercise your musical talents. Choirs for children, tweens and teens as young as age 4 offer quality musical instruction with an introduction to liturgical music and the opportunity to perform as part of services and special events. Adult choirs utilize phenomenal musical talent to help members grow in their abilities and provide leadership for both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday worship services.

The Holy Trinity Music School offers quality music instruction in a variety of instruments for all ages, including a full range of Kindermusik opportunities for young children.

 

Holy Spirit Choir (Pre-K–Kindergarden)

Open to children ages 4 through kindergarden, the Holy Spirit Choir provides an introduction to basic musicianship through fun songs and games.  The Holy Spirit Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 4–4:25 p.m. in the Choir rehearsal room, January 16-May 9, 2013.

Good Shepherd Choir (Grades 1–3)

Children in grades 1–3 are invited to join the Good Shepherd Choir. After a joint warm-up with the All Saints Choir, the Good Shepherd Choir will rehearse independently, focusing on age-appropriate skills of basic musicianship (including rhythm, note reading, and vocal production) and preparation for services. Special adult guests will offer insights in both music and liturgy.

Once per month, the Good Shepherd and All Saints Choirs sing jointly at the Wednesday 5:30 p.m. service and at the 9 a.m. service, often with the Celebration Choir. The Good Shepherd Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 4:30–5:25 p.m., January 16-May 9, 2013.. Meet in the choir rehearsal room.

All Saints Choir (Grades 4 & Up)

The All Saints Choir is open to children in grades 4 and up. The Celebration Choir

The Celebration Choir, under the direction of Dr. Ben Brafford, is open to interested adults and teenagers who want to sing at the 9 a.m. Eucharist. On the first Sunday of the month, the Celebration Choir sings at the 11:15 a.m. service. In addition to traditional worship music, the Celebration Choir also performs material from the Celebration Song Book, the Lift Every Voice and Sing Hymnal, Volume II and other contemporary resources. Rehearsals for spring 2013 are each Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:20 p.m. in the choir rehearsal room in the undercroft beginning January 9. All are welcome.

 

The Gloria Deo Choir

Holy Trinity's Gloria Deo Choir is under the direction of Dr. Richard Cox, retired Professor of Music at UNCG. This group specializes in traditional church music, providing musical leadership at the 11:15 a.m. Eucharist and enhancing the liturgy with anthems and other seasonal musical offerings. On the first Sunday of the month, the Gloria Deo Choir sings at the 9 a.m. service. Rehearsals for spring 2013 are Wednesdays from 7:30-9 p.m. beginning January 9 in the choir rehearsal room in the undercroft. All are welcome.
