Come join us this Saturday, July 24 for a walk around Lake Brandt. If you are interested in the AT Pilgrimage, this is a great way to meet people who are interested in hiking and would be a good way to get your feet wet before you commit to signing up starting July 25. You do not need to be interested in the AT pilgrimage to join us. All are welcome! Click here for full details.
We wanted to make you aware of some upcoming hiking dates that you might be interested in. We will be holding AT practice hikes on August 21, September 18 and October 9. We are inviting ANYONE who is interested in hiking to join us on these hikes. These hikes will be required if you plan on participating in the AT pilgrimage. However, we are welcoming anyone interested in hiking or pilgrimage to join us. More details to come!

Fall Appalachian Trail Pilgrimage to God’s Thumbprint
Join us for our fall backpacking pilgrimage along a section of the longest hiking footpath in the world. Three full days of uphills and downhills and trail magic. Our planned route is in Southwest Virginia and will take us over Chestnut Knob, a 4400-foot bald, and around Burke’s Garden, a farming valley known as “God’s Thumbprint” because it’s surrounded by a 360-degree ridge line . . . as if God’s thumb pressed right into the mountains.
Total mileage over 3 days will be about 17 miles, but with the elevation gain and way-too-heavy pack weight it will feel more like 30 miles, so pilgrims will need to be mentally and physically prepared for strenuous climbs, groaning bones, and blisters. Anticipate practice hikes, with loaded packs, to prepare for the physical demands of this Pilgrimage. Trip dates are October 22-24, 2021.
