REACHING OUT: Hunger
Reaching Out

Hunger
CROP Walk is sponsored by Greensboro Urban Ministry and Church World Services to raise money to fight hunger both locally and globally. Members of Holy Trinity serve as sponsors and/or walkers. Ten percent of the money raised in the walk stays in Greensboro to help fund Greensboro Urban Ministry’s Soup Kitchen, which feeds over 135,000 people each year. This year’s walk will be held annually in October at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Food For The Hungry Ministries collects non-perishable foods, powdered milk, paper products, cleaning products, light bulbs, soap, and similar items for distribution to the Grocery Assistance Program (GAP) at the Servant Center and the food ministry at Greensboro Urban Ministry. Items may be placed in baskets in the narthex on the second Sunday of each month.

Greensboro Urban Ministry is a conglomerate of services supported by Greensboro religious congregations and others. Greensboro Urban Ministry’s programs include: Emergency Assistance, Grocery Store Food Drive for the Food Bank, Potter’s House Community Kitchen, Chaplaincy Program and Stephen Ministry, Weaver House Night Shelter, Substance Abuse Recovery Program, Pathways Family Shelter, and Partnership Village, a transitional housing program for single adults and families.

Mobile Meals delivers meals to the homebound in our community. Holy Trinity provides volunteer drivers and deliverers for the third Monday of each month from 9:45–11:30 a.m. Substitutes are needed for other days as well.

The Servant Center is a non-profit, ecumenical outreach ministry that serves low-income elderly persons through grocery assistance and the disabled and homeless through advocacy.
