Serving as Christ's Hands and Feet
Angel Tree: The Angel Tree ministry provides Christmas gifts for children who might not otherwise experience the joy of Christmas morning. Children’s wish lists are hung on a Christmas tree in the Parish House for parishioners to choose. Purchased gifts are dropped off and at Holy Trinity and then distributed to the children by partner organizations.
CAN DO Sundays: The third Sunday of every month is CAN DO Sunday, when parishioners bring needed groceries to church to feed our hungry neighbors. The food is distributed throughout the community by our partner agency One Step Further. Holy Trinity further partners with One Step Further to distribute over 300 Thanksgiving-in-a-Bag meals collected each November.
Casserole Ministry: Holy Trinity serves with Church of the Holy Spirit, an Episcopal mission on Yanceyville Street, on the third Tuesday of each month to provide nutritious meals that we serve to our neighbors. Contact Robin Farber at robinfarber339@gmail.com to join this ministry.
Hot Dish & Hope: Hot Dish & Hope offers a free meal and compassionate hope to more than 250 people each Tuesday and Thursday evening in the Mullin Life Center at First Presbyterian Church. Holy Trinity servants help plate meals, assist guests, lead worship once a month, and collect and distribute toiletries twice a year. Details are available in the weekly electronic ePistle newsletter. For more information, contact Robin Farber at robinfarber339@gmail.com.
Lunch with Friends: Each third Sunday, Holy Trinity hosts our neighbors who live on the streets or in inadequate housing for lunch in Haywood Duke at 12:30 p.m. We make new friends over lunch. Details are listed in in the ePistle or you can contact Robin Farber at robinfarber339@gmail.com.
Hands-On Housing Ministry: Holy Trinity partners with Community Housing Solutions on projects to make our neighbor’s homes warmer, drier, and safer. Projects include exterior painting and interior repairs to walls, floors, kitchen, and bathroom, and outside debris removal. Through this ministry, we assist our neighbors in preserving their home value, building wealth for future generations, and we get to know our neighbors. For more information, contact The Rev. Mark Lile-King at mark@holy-trinity.com.
Housing Advocacy: The Housing Working Group serves as a voice for our unhoused and inadequately housed neighbors with city/state government, local agencies, and housing developers, with a primary focus on families with infants and school-age children and with elderly friends who want to age gracefully in their own homes. Contact Mike Johnson at mjohnson3020@icloud.com to offer your voice!
Meals on Wheels: Hundreds of local seniors are homebound and struggle to get healthy meals and to maintain human connection. On the third Monday of the month, Holy Trinity servants deliver prepared meals and share Christ’s love with our senior neighbors. Contact Russell Dunn at mrdunn17@gmail.com or C.P. Eldred at c.p.eldred46@gmail.com to join this ministry.
Recovery Café: On Monday and Thursday evenings at Presbyterian Church of the Cross, Recovery Café provides a refuge, healing, and transformation for men and women traumatized by all kinds of life events from family turmoil to cultural anxiety, from homelessness and addiction to the challenge of believing we are all God's beloved Children. Holy Trinity joins our friends for the evening for fellowship and reflection and provides and serves meals. Contact Rev. Mark Lile-King at mark@holy-trinity.com to serve at Recovery Café.
GUM Episcopal Breakfasts: Early each Tuesday morning Holy Trinity and local Episcopal Churches gather at Greensboro Urban Ministry to cook and serve our neighbors a delicious breakfast and to share God’s love with all God’s children. Contact Maggie Triplette at mtriplette@gmail.com to serve.
