EYC KICK OFF: Parent and youth information meeting, Sunday Sept. 13, 4 p.m., Robert Payne Youth House, prior to 5 p.m. Parish picnic.

Sunday School: Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to the Robert Payne Youth House for hands-on scripture learning, skits, activities, donuts, and fellowship in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Throughout the year, we alternate between youth-specific formation & intergenerational, topic-based formation. This year, Sunday School kicks off with Rite 13 classes (for youth turning 13 in the upcoming year) on Sept 20. Classes run Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Oct. 11, and conclude with a Milestone Party for all children and youth in the Robert Payne Youth House on Oct. 25.

Sunday Night EYC Meetings: Middle school typically meets in the Robert Payne Youth House 4:30-6 p.m. High school meets 5:30-7 p.m. The two groups overlap for dinner from 5:30-6 p.m. When EYC is combined, it runs from 5-6:30 p.m. Subscribe to the newsletter for the most up-to-date information.

Wednesday Nights with Jenny and Riley: Children and youth are invited to attend Stillpoint, eat dinner, and play pickleball, soccer, football, or most any other sport. We start with Stillpoint at 5:30 p.m., and then from 6-7 p.m., we share Wednesday Night Supper, play, relax, or get help on homework if you like! Look for Jenny Campbell and Riley Walker every Wednesday night.

 

GSO Area EYC: Throughout the year, we partner with St. Andrew’s and other area Episcopal Youth Communities on seasonal events. Past examples include Walking the Lights in Sunset Hills, Friendsgiving potluck meal, sharing a booth at Greensboro Pride in September, Field Day.

WORSHIP MILESTONES

All worship milestones have suggested ages for participation, but you can reach out to Jenny Campbell if you want your young person to participate.

Rite 13 is a class to explore and celebrate the passage from child to teenager for anyone turning 13 or who just turned 13 (seventh grade suggested). There are two classes with just the youth, one youth and parent combined class, and then presentation in worship service. This year, Rite 13ers will have a “Milestone buddy” in grades 3-5. Baptism Milestone children and Rite 13ers will meet and be paired up on Sept. 20. On Sunday, Oct. 25, all children and youth are invited to the Robert Payne Youth House to celebrate these milestones. The Rite 13 liturgy will be during the 10:30 a.m. service on Oct. 25. Milestone buddies will walk in the All Saints’ Day Parade at the 10:30 a.m. service together on Nov. 1. Rite 13 classes are Sept. 27, Parent/Child Oct. 4, and Oct. 11.

Confirmation: A sacrament for anyone who wants to deepen and recommit to their faith. Recommended for ninth grade or higher. There are four Sunday morning classes and one required weekend retreat. Confirmation candidates will work closely with an adult mentor and attend two Holy Week worship services together. This year, candidates for confirmation will have a “Milestone buddy”

in grades K-2. Lord’s Prayer milestone children and youth candidates for confirmation will meet each other and be paired up on Jan. 17 from 9:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m. during a special MLK program.

Confirmation classes run Jan. 17, Jan. 24, Jan. 30, Feb. 7, with a Milestone Buddies party in the Robert Payne Youth House on Feb. 14, 9:30-10:15 a.m. The required confirmation retreat will be Jan. 8-10 or Feb. 19-21.

 

Youth Sunday: Youth Sunday is when sixth-12th graders plan and lead worship. The youth confirmation class writes and reads the prayers of the people. Other youth read the lessons, acolyte, usher, and preach. We celebrate graduating seniors, who are invited to write a homily to preach at all services. The Price Scholarship recipient will also be announced. There will be a reception to celebrate graduating seniors from 9:30-10:15 a.m. May 2027

DURING THE SUMMER

Glory Ridge Mission Trip serves the people of Madison County through community outreach construction projects. Glory Ridge is for youth who have completed 9th through 12th grade. It takes place on the third or fourth weekend in July yearly. July 18-24, 2027

 

Pilgrimage: Every other year, high school youth are invited to experience Pilgrimage together. The past few years, we have walked 75+ miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This year, we are discerning between continuing the Camino and other options, including a pilgrimage to Austin to visit our sister church, St. David’s Episcopal in downtown Austin, TX.
